PIDC Slates Mabuhay Philippines First Virtual Festival 2020

Mabuhay Philippines First Virtual Festival 2020, the pioneering flagship project of the Philippine Independence Day Council- PIDC is slated to take- off on August 22 and 23, 2020 at Noon. This year's event titled “PAMANA" is the MPF's signature cultural edition to be virtually celebrating in the world stage the best and proud legacy of the Filipinos.

The Philippines has a very rich and vibrant culture and tradition dating back to the pre-Spanish time and until today. "Pamana” is a Filipino term which means "heritage" in English and "patrimoine" in French. It is just meaningfully right this summertime, amid the pandemic health crisis, that PIDC, a 23 - year old non-profit umbrella organization of Filipino Canadian volunteers, professionals, community leaders and advocates will be showcasing and sharing with the public the home country's wonderful patrimony.

Purposefully, the presentation is aimed at paying a special tribute to Filipino Front liners and Essential workers around the world who have continually and consistently served and sacrificed to keep everyone safe and healthy. PIDC salutes its many brave kababayans on their noble tasks! It has the support and the contributions made by its virtual celebration partners, namely TD Canada Trust, The Filipino Channel (TFC), World Financial Group (WFG) and Imperial World Inc. 

The PAMANA virtual presentation will be hosted by Melissa Grelo, a Filipino-Canadian and an award-winning host of Canada's top CTV programs “The Social" & "Your Morning". The show is co-hosted and directed by a long-time supporter of PIDC, Cristina Carpio, Editor-in-chief of a national lifestyle publication, MarQuee Magazine. Among the stars appearing in the show are Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Magnayon Gray, Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago and renowned fashion designers Renee Salud, Francis Libiran, Shanon Pamaong, Kenneth Barlis, Jaki Penalosa and Ditta Sandico. 

Providing musical entertainment for the fashion show are Torontonians Ma-Anne Dionisio, Martha Joy, Emilio Zarris, Belinda Corpuz, Jenifer Camacho, Josie De Leon, Chyrell SamsonRonquillo, Danny Orbillo and Jennifer Uy.  Also included are special performances by Kiara  Fina, Danica Carpio, Scott Dion Brown, Celine Grey, Precious Hernandez, Melanie Lazaro, Michael Elefano, Nicolas Manlapaz, Janelle Gonzales, Kayleigh Cerezo, Peyton  Garcia, Alexis Manego, Leonor Abad, Stephanie Artuz, Esme Estepa & Jonathan McLeon and the Mrs. Philippines entourage, and opening interviews with celebrities and popular Canadian Filipino TV media personalities making a mark.  There will also be important messages of support from several dignitaries in the Canadian scene.   

The simulated images event is produced and coordinated by Mabuhay Philippines Festival Chair Norma Carpio, WFG-World Financial Group Senior Executive Vice-Chairman Agnes Pasaporte Miranda, PIDC President Ramon Estaris, and ably supported by PIDC officers & members, local talents, techno whizzes, volunteers and other stakeholders. Raymund Villanueva and Ramon Torralba, respectively, are the fashion director and musical director of the show.

The following engaged and helped out in the show's administrative and technical production: Reel Vision( live stream), Tom Tan( marketing & sponsors), Ben & Paulina Corpuz( parade), Melinda Manlapaz & Chyrell Samson-Ronquillo ( local performers entertainment), Gene Elamparo & Aurora Ticzon Elefano ( youth performances), Minda Neri & Suzy Llanera (vendors & exhibitors), Danny Orbillo & Suzy Llanera ( website & Facebook, Social Media), Marlene Lucas ( fashion show), Aimee Maravilla, Helen Lao & Nene Ticzon ( front liners), Rose Cruz, Ophelia Santiago & Vilma Tahsin ( community liaison) and a list of other community volunteers.   

The program will also be promoted globally through Mabuhay Festival partner, The Filipino Channel (TFC) and ABS-CBN along with other PIDC partners worldwide. So come on now! Dora Mavor Moore Award Winner, Ma-Anne Dionisio, To Highlight The 2019 Mabuhay Philippines Festival Gala

PIDC is pleased to announce that the 2019Mabuhay Philippines Festival, will headline Dora Awardee, Ma-Anne Dionisio.Ms. Dionisio was recently  recognized  for  her   “Outstanding   Performance   in   aLeading Role, Musical Theatre”, in the production “Next to Normal”, this pastJune. Ms. Dionisio is a globally recognized talent in the world of musical theatreand many will recall her role in Miss Saigon, in which she played the lead role ofKim. Ms. Dionisio has also performed in Les Misérables, portraying the samecharacter (Eponine), which catapulted another Filipina musical legend, Ms. LeaSalonga, onto the global stage.  

Also featured in the evening’s program will be the vocal talents of Emilio Zarrisand Martha Joy, both of whom boast distinguished pedigrees and are celebratedperformers within the Filipino-Canadian community. 

The Gala will be hosted at The Toronto Sheraton Centre Hotel, in downtownToronto, on August 22, 2019. Keeping guests engaged will be our beautiful co-emcees for the evening, Christina Carpio, Editor in Chief MarQuee Magazine andHost of Going Global on Amazon Prime together with CP24’s Kayla Marieto.

The Gala is the kick-off to the Mabuhay Philippines Festival, which will take placeon August 24th and 25th, at Nathan Phillips Square.  Attendees will be treated toseveral   cultural   performances,   a   fashion   showcase,   as   well   as   a   variety   ofvendors. In addition, the Festival will feature several activities for families andchildren,   a   basketball   tournament   and   a   beer   garden.   Of   course,   the   mainattraction of the Festival, will be the parade, which takes place on August 25th,and   showcases   some  of   the   many   different   traditions   and   cultures   from   thePhilippines, and generally includes many distinguished members of the politicalcommunity, supporting and recognizing the contributions of the Filipino-Canadiancommunity.
